Sporting Blaster

The Sporting Blaster is designed by Drearian Defense and Merr-Sonn. This was Princess Leia Organa's weapon of choice during her years in the Imperial Senate. She was allowed to have it because she went on missions that had possible dangers, but she really used it to silence Imperials who found out about her connections with the Rebels.

The blaster is weak compared to blasters used by military personnel. It was designed as a personal defense weapon but could also be used for hunting small-game. Due to their weak blasts, they are marketed to civilians and are allowed on most planets. In fact, they are regarded more as ceremonial and still used in such events as "honor duels". The two main sporting blasters are the Drearian Defense Conglomerate Defender and the Merr-Sonn Quick 6.

Costing half of what a standerd military blaster would, it doesn't have many advanced components. To keep the blast energy low, it uses little blaster gas and relies mostly on its power pack. This also limits the optimal range to 30 meters with a maximum range of 60 meters. Some other drawbacks is that it requires certain components such as a power surge dampener, enhanced galven circuitry modules, focusing coils, galven ring, and an extended cooling coil sleeve. The blaster only has a manual, open sight rather than an electronic targeting scope.

The sporting blaster has some advantages also. There is a switch on top that toggles a stun setting on and off. It has an internal computer that repairs minor malfunctions, it can be easily concealed, the power packs can be changed quickly, and the weapon can also be separated into three parts, which can be reassembled in less that 10 seconds.
