Avenger

This Imperial-class Star Destroyer was under the command of Captain Lorth Needa. It was one of the vessels that hunted for the new Rebel base after the Battle of Yavin. Participating as the lead ship in the Battle of Hoth, the Avenger was temporarily disabled by the planetary ion cannon. Later it chased the Falcon into the asteroid field, and because it sustained much damage from the asteroids, it was in no shape to capture the Falcon as it "reappeared". This failure cost Needa his life at the "hands" of Darth Vader, as he was choked through the force. It acted as the communications vessel in the Battle of Endor and the Battle of Calamari. The ship eventually became under the command of Sedriss the Executor while Sedriss was conducting Operation Shadow Hand. During it's life, it helped suppress over 436 planets.

In the computer game X-Wing Alliance, the Avenger is shown as an Imperial II-class Star Destroyer, but according to other sources, the Avenger was built before the Imperial II-class was designed. This leads me to believe that it was changed in X-Wing Alliance for the sake of gameplay.
