Article I: Sources and Reference Materials


   §1: Apocryphal Materials

      §1.1: Any material referenced with 2 or more sources, at least one of which must be of an accurate intellectual basis, will be included without question in the encyclopedia. An accurate intellectual basis is a previously written article or source, including articles within the Star Wars History encyclopedia, which is generally accepted by the community of Star Wars fans as part of the Star Wars universe.

      §1.2: Any material having a single source must demonstrate that the source does not deviate from the generally accepted storyline of the Star Wars Universe, including the Expanded Universe (EU), and that the source is not based on speculation or creative license taken by a person not affiliated with Lucasarts, or a published author of Lucasarts sanctioned materials.

      §1.3: Any and all materials which reference a non-traditional source must have at least one other source to back up claims made in that source. Non-traditional sources include, but are not limited to events which happen within games as a result of the user's interaction, fan music, electronic databases not generally accepted by the Star Wars Fan community, fan films, and materials created by the author or another party not affiliated in any way with Lucasarts, unless the author has a published work sanctioned by Lucasarts in regards to the material that person is discussing.

      §1.4: Any articles which are specifically ratified by a Star Wars History Encyclopedia Administrator are allowed in the encyclopedia, provided that (1) written authorization, depicting the specific article, date, author, and sources is given to the author in the form of either an email or instant message, and (2) that this information is included in the "Talk" page of that particular article, along with the name of the administrator which gave the authorization.

      §1.5: Any and all materials covered in the preceding sections is are considered apocryphal, and not allowed in the Star Wars History Encyclopedia.

      §1.6 Punishments: Any user who is shown to have (1) knowingly submitted material in violation of these policies, or (2) forged an authorization from a Star Wars History Encyclopedia Administrator under the pretext of using apocryphal materials as legitimate entries may be charged by a Star Wars History Encyclopedia Administrator with punishments up to and including the revoking of the violater's Star Wars History account. Any apocryphal materials found within the encyclopedia by a Star Wars History Encyclopedia Administrator are to be removed without warning.

   §2: Plagiarism

      §2.1 Definition: Plagiarism is defined as the unauthorized use of materials by another author intended to be passed off as one's own ideas, or the use of materials without crediting a source.

      §2.2: No author of materials in the Star Wars History encyclopedia may submit information which has been plagiarized from another source.

      §2.3 Punishments: Any user who is found to have plagiarized materials from another source may be charged by a Star Wars History Encyclopedia Administrator with a punishment up to and including the revoking of the violater's Star Wars History account. Any plagiarism found within the Star Wars History Encyclopedia will be removed without warning by a Star Wars History Encyclopedia Administrator.
