Maks Leem was a Jedi Master during the Clone Wars who held the role of peacemaker. Many considered her a gentle, motherly master to the Jedi Apprentices. During her time as a Jedi Master she had three Padawans. The first was Rees Alrix, the second was Eremin Tarn, and the third was the boy Whie Malreaux.

Her last mission was to covertly escort Master Yoda to Vjun with her Padawan Whie, Jai Maruk, and his Padawan Scout. To sneak Yoda off of Coruscant without the public knowing where his true destination was, the actor Palleus Chuff was disguised as Yoda, and sent to Ithor. This was a sound plan, except that Asajj Ventress set up a trap to capture who she thought was Yoda. When she realized that he wasn't authentic, she captured him and made it look like he had died. The media flashed with news that Yoda had died, creating chaos back at the capital.

For the first part of their jouney, they traveled to Malastare on the Reasonable Doubt. During their journey, Yoda hid inside a hollow R2 casing to disguise himself while the other Jedi acted as a family. On board, the two Padawans went to fetch food for everybody when they heard the news of "Yoda"'s death. When they returned, they were hysterical with the news and forgot to keep a low profile. They revealed to the two droids, Solis and Fidelis, who were following them that Yoda was actually with them.

At the Phindar Spaceport, she and Maruk were taking care of getting tickets for their final stretch of the trip when the 18 confederate assassin droids, led by Ventress, attacked. Whie and Scout had been distracted by Solice and Fidelis, and were not able to help the two Jedi Masters. Yoda was still inside the R2 disguise, excluding him also.

When the droids attacked, they first set up two hard-sound guns. Leem managed to destroy the first with a piece of metal, while Maruk destroyed the other with his lightsaber. Next the droids started using their flechette launchers to wear away at the Jedi. Meanwhile, a tractor beam was enabled on Yoda's R2 casing.

She and Maruk managed to destroy the six droids attacking them, but her saber hand was mutilated, and she was bleeding from dozens of wounds from the flechette launchers. As they finished off the droids Ventress clapped her hands at the performance. Leem helplessly watched as Maruk and Ventress duelled. The duel came too close and she was slashed across the stomac with one of Ventress' lightsabers.

While this was happening, Yoda managed to cut a hole in the floor, escaping the the docking bay below. There he met Chuff, who had set the Last Call to engage its hyperdrive without thinking of the consequences. The two of them cut the restraints on the ship and escaped to the Turbolift just in time.

When the hull was breached by the Last Call, Leem put her dying streangth into sealing the gap in the floor with the Force. She also felt Maruk at the choosing point between the light and dark side. She mentally told him to die a Jedi, and he did. A half minute later he was struck down. Then Ventress came over to her and thrust a lightsaber through her chest saying, "Eighteen".
