When Jai was a Padawan, he had a crush on a fellow Padawan, Politrix.

Many years later when he was a Jedi Master, he was performing recon in the Outer Rim when he noticed something suspicious in the Hydian Way. Drab transports were coming out of hyperspace near Wayland from deep space vecotors instead of local traffic. He disguised the clone transport as a pirate ship and moved to intercept one of the drab transpots, but hidden blaster cannons attacked the clone transport and then the transport jumped into hyperspace.

Jai followed one of the transports to the planet Vjun where he was attacked by Asajj Ventress. She managed to defeat him and then stole his lightsaber. She took him prisoner, blinfolding him, and took him to Count Dooku on a speeder. Dooku spared him to deliver a message to Master Yoda. The message was that Dooku wanted peace. Along with the message, he sent a question, a simple seashell. Only Yoda understood what the question was. When Dooku was a Padawan, he had asked if it was possible to outgrow the Force like a crab outgrew its shell. Dooku was about to leave the Temple for the first time, and felt that he had outgrown it. Yoda responded that one cannot outgrow the Force, and that the Temple would always be a home for Dooku.

Back on Coruscant, he attended the last part of the Annual Apprentice Tournament. Jai agreed to a bet with Yoda that if Scout, a Padawan he thought should be sent to the Agricultural Corps, won then Jai would have to take her his new Padawan. Scout won the tournament, and Jai followed through with his end of the bet.

Almost immediatly he was assigned to a mission. He was to covertly escort Master Yoda to Vjun with his Padawan Scout, Maks Leem, and her Padawan Whie. To sneak Yoda off of Coruscant without the public knowing of his true destination, they had the actor Palleus Chuff disguised as Yoda and leave for Ithor. Then the real Yoda was hid inside an R2 casing, and the Jedi traveled as a family. This would have been a sound plan, except Ventress was able to set a trap for 'Yoda'. When she realized that it was a decoy, she made it look like she killed him, and took Chuff captive. This caused chaos back at the capital.

For the first part of the journey, they traveled to Malastare on the Reasonable Doubt. While the Padawans were fetching food for the rest, a droid named Solis distracted Scout by taking her to the Lost and Found. He said that an item she lost was there. While this was happening, another droid, Fidelis, told Whie that he was Whie's Gentleman's Personal Gentlething. He said that Whie was the rightful ruler of Vjun and that his mother was waiting for him. When the two Padawans were separately heading back to their rooms, they saw the news flicker that Yoda had been killed.When the two Padawans returned, they were so hysterica with the news that they forgot to keep a low profile, revealing to the two droids that Yoda was actually with them.

At the Phindar Spaceport, Jai and Maks were taking care of getting tickets for their final stretch of the trip 18 confederate assassin droids, led by Ventress, attacked. Whie and Scout were with Solice and Fidelis in the café, and were not able to help the two Jedi Masters. Yoda was still inside the R2 casing, and also unable to lend aid. The droids first used two hard-sound guns, blowing out Maruk's ear drums. Maks Leem managed to destroy the first with a piece of metal. Maruk then Force jumped to the second, destroying it with his lightsaber. Then the droids started using their flechette launchers to gradually wear them down.

Meanwhile, a tractor beam was enabled on Yoda's R2 casing, but Yoda cut a hole in the floor, dropping to the docking bay below. There he found 'Yoda' escaping the Last Call, which he set to engage its hyperdrives in a few minutes. Yoda made Chuff realize the consequences of that decision, and managed to destroy the ships restraints and escape into a turbolift before the ship blew a hole through the hull.

Jai and Maks managed to destroy the six droids hunting them, but they were bleeding from dozens of wounds from the flechette, and Leem's saber hand was mutilated. As they finished off the droids, Ventress clapped her hands at the performance. Jai and Ventress began another duel. He had planned this fight out so many times in the past 3 months, but forgot one factor: that she was better. The duel came too close to Maks and Ventress slashed her stomach.

Just then the hull was breached by the Last Call and Maks used the last of her strength to seal the hole in the floor. Jai was deciding whether to give into the dark side hoping that the power would give him the strength he needed to defeat Ventress and to succumb to the hate that he had for her, or to die the honorable death of a Jedi. Leem must have felt this on his mind and was trying to get him to choose the light side. He did, and when he was cut down, he wore a smile on his face. After Ventress left, he managed to call Scout over to him and reassured her that it wasn't her fault before he died.
