Title: Dark Lord of the Sith
Homeworld: Unknown

Every Jedi Apprentice is taught about the War of Exar Kun. It is used as a lesson to teach upcoming Jedi the dangers of the Dark Side, and the lure of a Sith Lord, even from beyond the grave.

Exar Kun was originally a student of the great Jedi Master Vodo Siosk-Baas. As a student, however, Exar Kun was lost in emotion. During a sparring match, Exar was clawed across the face by his opponent, Sylvan. Exar Kun was quickly lost in his temper. Before he could strike the final blow to Sylvan, Vodo Siosk-Baas stopped him. In an amazingly arrogant display, Kun challenged Baas to a duel. Kun destroyed Baas' walking stick, which he was using as a weapon, wielding two lightsabers. From that point forward, Exar Kun journeyed alone.

From his duel with Master Baas, Kun traveled to Onderon, seeking the tomb of Freedon Nadd. He posed as a Jedi Archaeologist, but his true identity was known by Jedi Master Arca Jeth. He was originally turned away, but Kun was able to pay some mercenaries to take him to Nadd's tomb.

Upon reaching the tomb, Kun was approached by the spirit of Freedon Nadd. He was given scrolls of Dark Side magic, and instructed to visit the Sith tombs on Korriban.

Exar Kun was entrapped within a Sith tomb by Freedon Nadd. After experiencing a bone-crushing impact of falling rock, Kun was healed, but only after pledging his soul to the Dark Side. It was from there that he was instructed to visit the moon of Yavin Four, where a Sith Lord named Naga Sadow had carried out experiments and created an army of monsters.

Using a powerful amulet acquired from the Massassi Warriors on Yavin Four, Exar Kun destroys both an ancient guardian of Yavin Four, created by Naga Sadow, and also the spirit of Freedon Nadd. Before exiting this world forever, Nadd warns Satal Keto and his cousin Aleema, Sith practicioners starting an uprising in the Empress Teta System. They currently hold a captive named Ulic Qel-Droma, who will eventually become Exar Kun's apprentice.

Having killed an ancient guardian, Kun was endowed with the loyalty of the Massassi Warriors. He instructed them to build grandiose temples, from which the Dark Side of the Force could be channelled. Kun also discovered and restored Naga Sadow's ancient spacecraft.

From Yavin Four, Exar Kun seeked to destroy the followers of Freedon Nadd. He journeyed to Cinnagar, to find the Sith practicioners that Nadd contacted before he was destroyed. Here, he finds Ulic Qel-Droma and Aleema Keto. He quickly uses Force powers to knock the young Jedi pretender Aleema unconscious, and begins to duel Ulic with a lightsaber. Midway through the battle, they are stopped by the spirit of another Sith Master, Marka Ragnos, who proclaims that Exar Kun has earned the title of Dark Lord of the Sith, and with him, Ulic Qel-Droma has earned the title of his first and foremost apprentice. This Sith spirit burns a lasting mark upon both their foreheads.
